reshaping my world through menopause

Reflecting sometimes humorously on life after 50, plagued by menopause and other maladies of growing older,

I'm missing out, I guess!

Oh, this aging business. Subtle changes here and there, their affects accumulate over time.....til you look like your mother! How did that happen!! ?? I used to look like my father....or his sister....whatever.

Anyway, some girls were comparing handcreams, one 38 year old exclaiming that it had faded her age spots on her hands....Age Spots? I scanned my hands, no, ......not yet....so what am I waiting for, I'm 17 years older. Maybe there are some signs I won't get. That would be nice....but so far, the creaky back, the bony hands, the whiskers on chin.....I seem to have most of the bases covered....... But no age spots, well, it figures, I can't tan either.

Okay, mother. Use the hand lotion anyway, just in case. And, the chin whiskers are taking off over here. That has got to be dad's side. They have a new cream for that too. So it turns out we don't get brown spots at all, not tan, not aging, not freckles. Just white. and whiskery. What a future. I promise I'll wax your face when you get eighty-five and can't do it. And I'll make sure I take care of you half the year out here in sunny land.

Well, I've got age spots on my hands, but I'm the one that can tan if I stay out in the sun, which I rarely do, but enough to get... what were they called in ancient times? Liver spots!
what hand cream, send me some!
