Remembering Grandmother

There are certain things that stand out in my mind about Grammie Day, she was the fun grandmother. Always pulled out the games and toys for us, made the best poached eggs ever and kept Reeses Peanutbutter cups in the fridge to hand out on the short visits.

But the day that I thought of recently was when I took my kids over for a visit and she said, "I have something for you, I know you'll like it". At that, she went to the fridge...we're thinking peanutbutter cups...and she pulls out a little bakery bag. She carefully opened it up sideways, reached in and pulled out a napkin wrapped around a .....dead bird....."Found it by the road, must have been hit by a car...I knew you'd like it".

We politely declined to take it home.

Spring is creeped out by stuffed artificial birds and recently turned down some beautiful free wallpaper because it had birds on it...wonder if it has anything to do with that dead bird thing.

Oh no. I TOOK IT HOME. I MADE A SIGN. AND I BURIED IT. REST IN PEACE. ROBIN. It's buried across from your house - least it still was ten years ago -I checked. So, I guess I am the Aunt from California!
