the psychology of feeding your husband

My husband is very easy to please....in fact he has never complained about a dish I've made....and I don't always make winners. Like the scrambled eggs with smelts mixed in of 1971. His worst remark is that he wouldn't care if he had that again. That's really a bad one.

But he has a few things he doesn't like and I steer away from them most of the time. He doesn't like fish. When we are being Very Good on diets, I slip in a meal of fish occasionally and he generously tolerates them, looking forward to something else next time.

This week I printed out a recipe for spinach stuffed salmon....he Really Doesn't Like Salmon. The paper sat on the counter for a few days....each night I fed him leftover turkey soup from Thanksgiving.....without complaint. One day for lunch, he actually heated some of it up himself. Finally he asked, "Were you going to make salmon?"

"Oh no, I just wanted the stuffing recipe to put in chicken".....I answered.....slyly....having fed him 4 bowls of soup in 5 days with one South Beach frozen dinner thrown in for good measure. .....amazing what the threat of salmon will do to a man's appetite!
