Position determins view
Sad but true that it takes the serious things of life to put mundane challenges into perspective. When we see someone all angry about getting cut off in traffic, we often comment, "Oh they need a real problem to get upset about....put things in perspective". (By the way, it's not me cutting them off in traffic...usually)
My sister-in-law is a nurse and told this true story.
An elderly lady was dying of cancer. One of her friends dropped by to visit, perhaps to cheer her up. The patient was quite low saying, "Well, I guess this is the end for me. Life will be over. No more adventures, I'm not going to get over this illness. Things will never be the same."
Her friend commiserated, nodding and agreeing and added, "And the price of top round steak is $6.50 a pound."
"Yes, it is", agreed the patient, mournfully.
The view from the end of life puts all things in perspective...steak is just too high.
