"Tying a string on a fly?" you might ask

In the last blog, I mentioned one of the highlights of the womens retreat...trying to take a fly for a .....fly, as opposed to taking any other animal for a walk. Jill was on fly patrol and mentioned that she had a relative who puts a fly in the freezer to slow it down and then ties a short string on it. As the fly warms up and begins to get active again, he holds on to the string and flies it around, probably in peoples faces to be annoying.

As we told others about the unusual activity, some concurred that they too had relatives who did such things to flies and to bees. It made me wonder why it was always someone else....like, "I have a friend who does wierd things...do you think he needs help?" and never they themselves who had done this.

Anyway, Jill and Kathy caught the fly, cooled it in some ice and needed a string. Nobody had thread or anything but I remembered seeing a loose thread somewhere when I got re-dressed after a swim in the pool. As I hunted around in hem and shirt edges I found it....a nice piece of elastic hanging from my underwear! Yikes! Someone pulled it off and it made the best "bungie string" to tie up the fly!

I'm not sure how all those other distant relatives that are too weird to mention in public did it but the fly flew off leaving his leg behind....so we never did get to take him for a fly....maybe next time.

The ultimate frustration!

An experience noone should miss, I spent a week at a pain clinic. I'm not in pain mind you, though those creaks in my back are annoying, I was there to take care of my daughter who is undergoing treatment for chronic pain and nerve disease.

The minute we rolled into the back entrance I thought someone had yelled, "Lights Camera Action" as the first of the cast of characters (a dear man who is a patient and an employee there) came round to help us into the mansion on the hill overlooking a picture perfect fall scene of orange and pumpkins and farms.

But, I can't tell you about it because it's all protected anonymous stuff!

So that is my ultimate frustration...the best material I've had since trying to tie a string on a fly at the womens retreat....and I can't write about it!
