Another Milestone

I have put another milestone behind me.....notice the phrasing.....had my colonoscopy on Tuesday. The doctor said that I'm okay for another 10 years....good news.

It's not so bad....don't put it off too long if you are in the over 50 crowd....just carve out 2 days off and make it a project.

Bruce had his in January while I was out in Iowa, I left him to figure it out himself.heeehee.

Anyway, he told me that they gave him an egg salad sandwich when he woke up. I doubted it because it's usually crackers when they give stuff out and egg salad is his favorite sandwich. Now what's the chances of that happening? He won't even go to a wedding that doesn't offer egg salad sandwiches. He bemoans the decline in offerings at modern receptions.

So the nurse processed me in, started the IV and asked if I had any questions. "Not really", I said, "I'm familiar with the process but I just wanted to know if my husband really had an egg salad sandwich when he woke up or was he imagining it?"

She chuckled, "Yes, he probably did. We offer either tuna or egg salad". Mystery solved. He leads a charmed life and all the old ladies like him.

So I woke up an hour and a half later and they escorted Bruce in to help keep me awake....guess I sleep very well. They set in front of me a square of coffee cake, a cup of coffee......and handed Bruce an Egg Salad Sandwich!

I can Do That!

Love trying new recipes, other people's and on my own too! My brother had me over for supper awhile back and PRESENTED, not just cooked, a lovely meal of salmon with a balsamic reduction, cornbread with mint jelly, light salad....all very delightful.

The balsamic reduction intrigued me and as I watch cooking shows I've heard the term from time to time and thought I should try it, though wondered if it is quite time consuming. Well, Today I discovered that I can make a balsamic reduction....actually, a raspberry balsamic reduction....without even trying!

I'm doing my spring cleaning and found a black puddle in the bottom of the cupboard....thick stickey gooey...sniff sniff....not syrup.....a lovely raspberry balsamic reduction...right in my cupboard. Not useable with the bleach spray I was using....but something to consider for the future! Balsamic reduction Take One.
